“Our process has literally become more visible”
Carla Kingma, Quality and control operator at SPITS Oosterwolde
Spits mainly delivers automatically packaged medicine to people in nursing and care homes. It's a very responsible job, particularly considering the large quantities SPITS deals with, and precision and care are of paramount importance. Nonetheless, an occasional call is received concerning a faulty dosage bag.
“In the past,” explains Carla Kingma, responsible for quality and control at SPITS Oosterwolde, “it was hard to find out where the error had been made.” The error could have been made at SPITS or by the nurse or even the patient. Now, however, SPITS has photos of every single dosage bag it packs, and therefore visual proof of what was in the bag when it left the premises.
The ZiuZ Inspector takes a photo of the front and back of each dosage bag. The photos are then saved in a central archive for future reference. The photos clearly show the contents of the bags, and so provide very detailed evidence. “Our process has literally become more visible,” says Carla.
